All Types of Outdoor Lawn Furniture
While virtually maintenance-free, outdoor wood furniture does have to have minimal work including a yearly cleaning in order to wash away any buildup of grime. Much high-grade wood outdoor furniture can be looked after effortlessly with regular soapy water wiping and annual coatings of sealant. A properly lacquered teak bench can be maintenance-free, a definite benefit to today’s overworked homeowner.
Procurable in myriad types, wood outdoor furniture can be chosen for grain, strength, or the unusual styles many species can be wrought into. Some wood outdoor furniture can be dyed, but left unpainted or coated with invisible shellac, it gradually fades, reaching an unusual silver-blue finish. Bronze-colored teak patio furniture, when untreated, will age to a silver-blue color, but won’t crack with this weathering.
The normal pigmentation of teak outdoor furniture is a middle to dark honey and may be sustained by applying a teak sealer. One exceptional feature of a teak outdoor porch swing is that it does not demand care; in time, the honey-colored wood will fade to a patina of silver-gray. Left on its own, the wood of unvarnished teak outdoor furniture will usually turn gray due to UV rays, but will remain hardy and highly usable.
